Biography

Shahbaz Ali Malik's academic journey, which commenced at Cadet College Petaro in 1981, was not just about books and classrooms. His athletic prowess was a testament to his passion and energy. He excelled in many sports, including sprinting, hockey, football, basketball, and more, leaving a lasting impression on his peers.

After leaving Petaro, he enrolled in Lawrence College Ghora Galli, where he completed his Intermediate diploma in 1987. He earned an MA in Economics from Sindh University in 1996 and an MBA in 1998.

Shahbaz Ali Malik gained exposure to his family's business, the Popular Group of Industries, at a young age and became actively involved in it in 1987. Over the years, he steadily worked his way up the ranks of the organization, and in 2002, he was appointed as the Managing Director, a position he occupies to this day.
The Popular Group encompasses various enterprises across diverse industries, such as fabrics, spinning mills, weaving mills, juice industries, plastics, and others.

Aside from his role in the Popular Group of Industries, Shahbaz Ali Malik has been an active member of various business associations, holding positions such as Commissioner of PEMRA and Chairman of subcommittees at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As an alumnus of Cadet College Petaro, Shahbaz Ali Malik felt a profound responsibility towards the Petarian Association. His leadership as President and his instrumental role in its expansion, marked by establishing chapters in various universities in Karachi, reflect his unwavering commitment to his alma mater.

Despite his busy work and alums commitments, Shahbaz Ali Malik has also been actively engaged in social ventures. He served as the President of Serve Our Society (SOS) and has been involved in various other organizations, such as The Civil Liberties Union of Pakistan and Lions Club, Pakistan.
